mPrep/s™ Specimen Processing Capsules

The mPrep/s™ Capsules are used for fixation, embedding and sectioning at an ultramicrotome. Specimens can be inserted and the capsule will hold the specimen throughout fixation, embedding, and sectioning. There are no additional embedding molds required. The capsule itself easily fits in ultramicrotome holders (chucks).
This capsule is highly recommended for transmission and scanning electron microscopy, but can also be used for other sample preparation methods.

Overview of the mPrep™ System

The mPrep™ System increases efficiency and quality for sample preparation in microscopy and histology labs. It not only facilitates the handling of samples on TEM grids but also improves and accelerates tissue processing.

The mPrep™ System is designed to cover the following processing steps during sample preparation:
-    mPrep/s™ capsules for fixation, embedding and sectioning
-    mPrep/g™ capsules for staining, labeling and archiving of TEM Grids

Handling and processing of specimens and TEM Grids is performed in the microliter-volume capsules to protect and keep track of valuable samples.

The mPrep™ Capsules attach to standard pipettes to conveniently deliver reagents in measured amounts. Sample preparation operation is almost without direct handling of specimens and grids to minimize damage or loss. The small, enclosed capsule system reduces reagent consumption. The mPrep™ system works with any existing protocol for specimen preparation, grid staining or immuno-labeling without need of changing. The Use of Multi-channel pipettes increase the throughput to processing up to 24 grids simultaneously without extra effort.


The mPrep/s™ WorkStation for TEM and SEM

The mPrep/s™ Workstation is designed for facilitated and efficient sample loading and orientation with use of mPrep/s™ capsules.

After the sample is mounted and oriented no further direct handling of the sample is required. The sample is ready for fixation, dehydration and embedding steps.
The special mPrep/s™ Workstation polyethylene surface minimizes dulling of dissection tools and is fully immersible for easy cleaning between uses. Molded into the surface are 12 dissection wells to organize specimens and keep them wet if desired. At the back, 12 capsule wells and 3 screen holders conveniently hold these prior to use. On either side of the workstation, a total of 24 capsule wells can hold loaded capsules and keep them wet while loading into the channels of the pipette. Single and multichannel pipette kits are available (optional).

mPrep™ Pipettor Kits

Choose from either single- or multi-channel pipette kits for mPrep/s™ or mPrep/g™ capsules.

Single-channel kit includes: single channel 200 μl pipette, one pack of mPrep™ capsule pack of your choice and one pack of 96 pipette tips, size 10μl.

Eight-channel kit includes: eight-channel 200 μl pipette, one mPrep™ capsule pack of your choice and one pack of 96 pipette tips, size 10μl.

mPrep Filter-Couplers

Filter couplers prevent the introduction of damaging reagents into pipettes.
They also improve the fit of mPrep/g™ capsules on some pipettes.
Pack includes 16 filter couplers and a capsule storage box.
Available in two pore sizes:
1. Standard mPrep/f30™: nominal 30 μm pore size filter appropriate for most applications.
2. Extreme mPrep/f13™: nominal 13 μm pore size filter for use with biohazards and very aggressive reagents.
