Properties and storage of AF200
AF200 solutions may be stored at room temperature and ideally between 5° and 15°C and out of strong sunlight. The cap of the bottle (or if using the pipette supplied with the material, the cap which covers the pipette delivery point) should always be replaced after use as a matter of good practice.
The solutions with antifadent and hardening mountant should be used within 10 hours as the efficacy of the antifadent reduces with time. With this in mind, it is better to make up the mixture prior to use and not to rely on keeping solutions.
Usage and Useful Tips
This is a glycerol solution containing a non-basic antifadent. It has a relatively high viscosity. It is designed for use with specimens labelled with DAPI, Cy and Hoechst dyes.
A few drops of the solution should be applied to the specimen followed by a cover slip. When used with Permafix PF/ MWL 4-88, evaporation of the water leaves a clear film which holds the cover slip in place thereby aiding the safe storage of the specimen.
Mixtures of AF200 and the polymer solutions should be made up on demand since the mixtures gel upon storage for long periods. Solutions of AF200 and the polymer solutions should be made up in the ratio of 1 part by volume AF200 to 3 parts per volume of the polymer solution.
